Great White Sharks are abundant in the temperate seas off South Africa and sit on top of the food chain. During the winter months they frequent offshore islands to prey on cape fur seals, while in the summer they move inshore or visit offshore banks to hunt fish.

Africa's shark fauna is amongst the most diverse in the world and no less than 150 species occur in the continents seas.

Every year during June/July shoals of sardine travel northwards along the east cost of south Africa with hordes of predatory sharks, dolphins and whales in pursuit.

Along the Namibian coast the world's oldest desert clashes with the Atlantic Ocean. It should be a lifeless barren wasteland but instead it is full of life. The cold ocean produces fog which blankets the desert at night and provides insects and reptiles with their only source of moisture.
